

Passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2016, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital from complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Her husband of 43 years, Joe, her son Josh and her daughter-in-law Sirina were at her side. She is also survived by grandchildren Taylor, Aidan, Mason, and Aliyah; brother Steve, sister-in-law Lyla, friend Sandi, and nieces Monica and Amy. She is joining her older son, John, in the afterlife.
Born to William and Jeanette Rose, Shari graduated from high school at Camp Lejeune then attended Notre Dame College in Baltimore and Austin Community College before transferring to the University of Texas-Austin, College of Liberal Arts, graduating in 1988. She taught 8th grade English at Washington Irving Middle School in Springfield until she retired in 2012. After retirement, she continued to pursue her many interests, including reading, TV game shows, on-line shopping, rooting for the Redskins, and visiting historic sites. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her beloved grandchildren. A lifelong Catholic, she was devoted to her church.
Mass will be held at St. Bernadette's Church in Springfield, VA on February 25th at 10:30 am, with the burial to take place afterwards at Fairfax Memorial Park.
