Shirley A. Benson, age 86, of Springfield, VA, passed away on 8 October 2022 in Burke, VA. She was born in Sisseton, SD, to Martin and Clara (Hove) Olson on 22 December 1935. She married Robert Benson on 27 December 1953 in Sisseton, SD.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Benson. She is survived by her children, Patricia J. Benson, R. Scott Benson, Mark A. Benson and Todd P. Benson, and her grandchildren, Zachary Benson, Sydney Benson and Ryan Benson.
A private burial will be conducted at Quantico National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be provided to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
