Sofia Marie Bonacorsa

We are immensely saddened to announce the passing of our daughter, Sofia Bonacorsa. Sofia passed away on September 19, 2025 at the age of 4 after a battle with Krabbe disease. Sofia was the most patient and resilient child. She brought immeasurable light and joy into our lives with her inner goodness and strength. Sofia navigated life's challenges with grace—a unique blend of both the bold and the soft aspects of her. Though her time with us was brief, the depth of love and happiness Sofia shared will forever remain in our hearts.

We invite all who loved Sofia to join us in remembrance. Together, we will honor her beautiful life by sharing stories, tears, and laughter. We have visitations scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Demaine Funeral Home, located at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, located at 1725 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036. Please note that a burial service at Arlington National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
