Travis Earl Evans

September 22, 1985July 7, 2019

Travis Earl Evans passed away at the age of 33 on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Springfield, Virginia. He is the loving son of Calvin and Evelyn Evans; brother to Michelle Evans; grandson of Harold and Marlene Thompson and Arthur and Mary Evans; nephew of Larry and Laurie Evans, Harold Thompson, and David Thompson; cousin of Sean Evans and Andrea Scarbrough; and dear friend to too many to name.

Travis was born in Oakland, California. As part of a military family, he called many places home and made many friends. He lived in California, Korea, New York, Germany, Kansas, and in 1996, the family settled in Springfield, Virginia. Travis graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2004 and attended Virginia Tech. An entrepreneur at heart, Travis owned his own landscaping business, Springfield’s Finest, where his hard work and reliability earned the trust and respect of his many customers.

Affectionately known by many of his friends as “Slim” or “Tevans,” Travis was always there with a warm embrace, an infectious smile and his larger than life personality. He could always be counted on to be there for his “Crew” and other friends. All who knew Travis were certainly aware of his love of sports and his passionate support of the Denver Broncos and the L.A. Lakers. He also thoroughly enjoyed participating in multiple fantasy football leagues and was especially proud of his 2014 win in the Coffee and Donuts League.

Travis will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him, remaining always in our hearts. A celebration of life service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, Virginia on Saturday, July 20th at 2:00pm. An onsite reception will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Travis Evans Memorial Fund, a donor advised fund with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. Contributions to the Fund will be used to make annual grants to various public charities in Travis’s memory. Additional information, regarding the Fund and donation options, is available at www.cfnova.org/travis-evans.

Our hearts are broken for your loss. We hired Travis a number of times when we were out of town. He was so responsive, cheerful and polite --- and he always did a great job! We recommended him to others who used his services regularly. We will all miss him --- such a nice, young, hard-working man. May his sweet smile stay with you forever.

I will always remember Travis as a member of "the crew," that mischievous grin most often on his face. He was the best of friends to Tim and the other guys, and I know his loss leaves a hole no one can fill. My deepest condolences to his family and all of his friends who loved him.

Travis had the best smile and gave the greatest hugs. Literally EVERY time we hung out, he’d always always always say “I love you Lisa.” He knew I had issues with my self-esteem and always wanted me to feel special. He was a gem of a human being, so freakin sweet and loving. I’ll miss him dearly.

If we had a son, we would want him to be just like Travis. What a wonderful young man. Always greeted us with a broad smile and his outgoing personality. He is not dead who lives in the lives of others; Travis will live on in the lives of all who knew him. Gone way too soon; a remarkable young man.
