Of Alexandria, on May 6, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Adolph Owens; mother of Larry (Jackie) Owens and Virginia (Frank Basye) Owens; grandmother of Jason, Darryl, and Travis; great-grandmother of 5; also survived by extended family members.
Valeria was born in Rabun County Georgia and a polio survivor. She had a strong Christian faith and never allowed her disability to keep her from enjoying life and many accomplishments. Valeria was a homemaker and loved to sew. She started her own business as a hard-working seamstress and had numerous customers. In recent years, she volunteered at the Lincolnia Park Senior Center and enjoyed making dolls for children in the hospital. Valeria also loved to read and took great pride in reading her Bible through every year. She was an active member at Braddock Baptist Church in Alexandria. Most of all though, she loved her family.
Friends welcome on Monday, May 15 from 6-8 pm at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield. A service to celebrate Valeria’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at National Memorial Park, Falls Church.
