When I came to work at MITRE over 12 years ago, Val took me under her wing, showing me the ropes, advising me as I navigated office politics, giving me career guidance, and, most importantly, offering me her friendship. She spoke often, and with great warmth and affection, about her family (especially her nieces and nephews). Our careers took different paths and it's been several years since we last spoke. I am saddened to hear of her untimely passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Valerie the past 6 years. She was always so nice, pleasant and talkative! Valerie would share her struggles with cancer but she always persevered. Last year when I had my own health scare, it was easy to talk to her about it and share experiences. Valerie's departure from this life is a loss to many - family, friends and the lives she touched.

To Valerie's family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our family is truly sorry for the loss of Valerie. She was a lovely lady. I recall many times when she pitched in to help the children and the volunteer moms with St Michael's School events. She shared her terrific sense of humor and made tasks more fun for everyone. Valerie was a very special person.

Thoughts and Prayers for the entire family. We both grieve and celebrate her life with you. Many fond memories, both in person and through the many stories that her very proud father would tell. It is comforting to know that she is with her father and mother again. God Bless, Alan and Tammy Kirkman
