Velma Lee Steiner Mercer

Passed away on April 1,2011 after a long battle with COPD. Velma was born on 11/18/1926 and was proud to share that she was a native "Californian." She made Fairfax her home in 1972 and this is where she raised her family. Velma is survived by her loving husband of 53 1/2 years Gene and their children and grandchildren, Nancy Mercer, Ellen Whitney, Chris Mercer, Nicholas Jarosz, Meghan Whitney, Paul Whitney, Patrick Jarosz, Bart Bukas, Brian Mercer and Matthew Mallery, Velma believed the greatest skill we could develop was that of listening and understanding other's points of views. Everyone she met was touched by her manner, honesty and wisdom.

All are welcome to attend services at: Sunrise of Falls Church, 330 N. Washington Street, Falls Church on April 21 at 1:00 pm ; Demaine's Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield on April 22, 6-8pm; or for the Memorial Celebration April 23 between 2-4 p.m. with an open house at the family home immediately following the services.
