

Victoria R. Gibbons was born on June 7, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey to Elizabeth Dikun Ratzin and Joakim Ratzin. When she was very young, she moved with her parents and older brother, Thomas, to Scranton, PA. She was raised in Scranton along with her brother and sister, Nora. In 1953, she graduated from Scranton Technical High School. Following graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper in a garment factory.
In 1955, she married Paul F. Gibbons and moved to Maryland. In 1957, she, Paul and their daughter Sharon (born in 1956) moved to Arlington, VA. Their daughter Deborah was born in 1958. In 1963, Victoria, Paul, and their two daughters moved to Springfield, VA. Victoria and Paul were married for 37 years, when Paul died in 1992. Victoria is survived by her two daughters, her son-in-law, Eugene, two grandsons, Paul and Christopher, and their wives, Kristin and Emma. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Cameron, Luke, and Eliana Rose, and her nieces and nephews. She adored her family.
In addition to being a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Victoria enjoyed gardening and flower-arranging. She took pride in taking care of her home. She also enjoyed painting landscapes and flowers with watercolors.
Victoria attended mass weekly and she prayed the Rosary. Praying the Rosary gave her great comfort, especially during these last few weeks, as she suffered from acute congestive heart failure.
Victoria was a beautiful and kind woman. She loved her family and her friends.
