Albert "Al" Harry Sona passed on August 6, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on March 12, 1938 to Elmer and Melba (nee Mauer) Sona. They have preceded him in death, as have his first wife Sandy (nee Meyer) Sona, and his stepson Michael Shreves. He is survived by: his wife Lynette Olivia (nee Dolce) Sona; his children: Chris Sona (Christine), Kim Withington (Joe), Ron Shreves (Nancy), Jeff Breier; his grandchildren: Ashley Schoo (Jerry), Johnathon Sona, Joey Withington, Holly Withington, Jason Shreves (Melissa), Brandon Shreves (Cami), Christopher Davis (Kara); his great-grandchildren: Hunter, Harper, Alyssa, Nicholas, Hazel, Gia; his brother Dennis Sona (Rita); nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
As a young man Al was a pitcher with the New York Yankees. He served in the United States Army. He enjoyed a career with Union Electric (Ameren). He was a member of Florissant's Men of Harmony Barbershoppers. Al was a devoted volunteer at the FOX theatre for many years. He enjoyed singing in his church choir. He enjoyed coaching and attending his grandchildren's sports and activities. Al loved to travel with his wife and family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
