Audrey was a very loving, caring and nurturing wife, mom and grandma. She loved family gatherings of all kinds and really enjoyed celebrating holidays, events and milestones. She always found a way to make celebrations even more special for everyone. She was a wonderful caretaker and was a good down home cook who made a mean pot of chili and the best French fries in the world. Her wonderful pineapple upside down cakes and Italian Chocolate cakes were renowned. As an excellent seamstress, she sold her creations at craft fairs for many years and always enjoyed creating clothes for her children and grandchildren, their Halloween costumes, and Barbie and Snoopy clothes. Audrey had a personal faith in God and when her children were young she sang in the church choir and taught a children's Sunday school class at Calvary Heights Baptist Temple. She also worked with children as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughter's troop and enjoyed taking them on outings, camping and making lots of crafts.
Audrey loved to read, oftentimes reading 5 books a month. Some of her favorite books were thrillers from authors such as Dean Koontz and James Patterson. She enjoyed country music and 50s rock and roll music and sang parts of old ballads that she remembered from her childhood. She spent some key adolescent years on a family farm in Wentzville which deepened her love of animals and of the Earth. Audrey enjoyed tending to her flowers, growing vegetables in her garden and really loved her rose collection – she even grew some trees from seeds which still grow today. Audrey’s spirit was tied to her family and to the animals and wilderness areas all around us. She was an avid nature lover and was genuinely concerned about the future of the Earth and held a special place in her heart for the wolves. She loved traveling to see beautiful mountainous areas and visited many national parks and monuments – she loved volcanoes and her favorite was Mt. St. Helens. As a bookkeeper for her professional career she was always great at math and had a strong mind for numbers – this made her an excellent card shark and gamer as she had a great memory and was good at strategizing. She played cards her whole life, liked to win at the video poker slot machines at the casino, and spent the last many years playing side-by-side with Bud as a master in EverQuest, an online adventure game. Audrey was always fun, supportive, strong, and laughed easily – she will be truly missed by everyone she knew and loved.
