Bobbie graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1964 and went on to build a long and dedicated career. She worked for over twenty years at Big Star/A&P before joining Emory Hospital, where she served faithfully for 26 years until her retirement in 2022.
She was united in marriage to Aaron Bentley, Sr., and together they had one son, Aaron Bentley, Jr. Bobbie found immense joy in being a grandmother to Naomi Hollis Bentley, Aaron “AJ” Bentley, Raina Bentley, Jaron Bentley, and Sarah Bentley.
She shared close bonds with her sister Mary Ann Jones and brothers Marvin Johnson and Anthony Lester. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends held a special place in her heart.
A woman of steadfast Christian faith, Bobbie served quietly and faithfully on the Usher Board at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church. Her spirit of service touched many lives.
Bobbie was known for her culinary talents—especially her beloved Red Velvet Cake and Pound Cake—which she generously shared with friends and coworkers. She also enjoyed cheering for the Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs, watching holiday movies on Hallmark and Westerns on the weekend. She celebrated Christmas with enthusiasm and LOVED dining out at favorite restaurants like Chili’s, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, and Pappadeaux’s, with her Best-Work Friends.
In addition to her parents Estelle and Jobe Lester, she was preceded in death by Sylvester Johnson, Joe W. Johnson, and her beloved aunts.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
