Charlene was the beloved sister of Ron Williams (the late Lois), Joyce Barrett (Joseph), and Karen Mattaline (Daniel); loving aunt of Andrew Mattaline (Mary), Jeffrey Mattaline, Timothy Barrett (Samantha), Matthew Barrett (Liz), and Kathleen Stenberg (Joseph); and dearest great aunt of Hailey, Tiberius, Carmine, Evelyn, Josephine, Teagan, and Jackson. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Violet Williams.
Charlene graduated from Central Missouri State University of Warrensburg with her Bachelor of Science degree. She worked as a Librarian for St. Louis County Library for over 40 years until her retirement in 2008. Charlene was an avid bowler as well as a past member of the Women’s Bowling Association. She was also a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and St. Louis Blues Hockey teams. Charlene loved her family more than word could ever express, and she adored her Golden Retrievers. She was very proud of all of her nieces and nephews & their children. Charlene was a very strong woman who overcame many medical obstacles (she swore that she had “9 lives”). She made friends easily by making each person she met feel important. Her concern and care for others carried over to her newest friends, the residents and staff at Delmar Gardens North. Charlene’s family would like to thank all of you at Delmar Gardens North for the love and care you showed her during her stay there.
