David C. Barbour, 70, of Arnold, MO, peacefully passed away and is now in the arms of his heavenly Father, Monday, August 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. David is survived by his wife, Pat (nee Lyell) Barbour; his children, Elizabeth (Josh) Donaldson and Jonathan Barbour (Lauren Walz); grandchildren, Aurora and Shantaya; and four foster grandchildren. Dear nephew, cousin, and friend of many.
David loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Grace Church St. Louis. David had a big heart, loved to laugh, make other people laugh, and was quite the practical joker. He was dedicated to his family and they enjoyed many travels together including scenic drives. Prior to having a family of his own, David quit college to care for his mom and grandmother after the death of his father. He was a man of many talents and varied interests. He loved music and was a gifted pianist and organist, teaching many students his craft. He directed the choir at Maryland Heights Presbyterian for many years. He was also a photographer, sold real estate, was a medicine courier, and shuttle bus transport driver for the airport. Many lives were touched by all that David did in this world. People were drawn to David and his magnetic personality. His gentle, sweet, and tender-hearted spirit will be greatly missed.
A celebration of David’s life will he held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Hope Church, 4200 Brown Rd., St. Louis, 63134 at 11:45 with a meal following. Friends may visit prior to the service from 11 to 11:45. His dear friend, Steve Drury, will officiate the service and memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers to the American Kidney Foundation. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support during this past year, especially their friends from their Bible Study Group.
