David Charles Clenney, age 76, of Florissant, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris (nee Huckeby) Clenney. His beloved brother Steve died last year, and he will be buried next to Steve. He leaves behind his cherished wife Debby, and their two children Shannon and David. Also missing him are his son-in-law John Dresser and two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Logan. Debby's siblings, Sheila Ballard and Byron Witherington, have known him since they were children, and Dave loved them as his own sister and brother.
Married in 1970 to his high school sweetheart, Deborah Ann, before serving four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, they began their marriage far from St. Louis. They returned home with their baby girl Shannon. Dave worked on B52 planes, and took that skill set to work on commercial alarm systems. Son David Paul arrived 8 years after his sister, and their little family was complete. Dave discovered a passion for coins and turned his interest into a 40 year business, buying and selling in the coin trade with his brother Steve. He specialized in the silver dollar, and was recognized by dealers and grading companies across the country. Debby was making her 40 year mark in real estate as a highly skilled agent. She wanted rental homes, so Dave became accomplished at home repairs.
Dave loved his wife and children, he was a family man. Time was spent watching movies at home, trips to Disney, and going anywhere Debby wanted to go. His favorite hobby was fishing, and he could spend hours at the lake. Family dinner parties were an established routine at their home.
He and Steve were devoted members of Bethel United Pentecostal Church, and could be found there on Thursday night. Dinner together usually followed. The last couple of years, he lost Steve and his health kept him from those nights. He missed being at church deeply.
His life truly began when he met Debby. They were young, stubborn, and very much in love. Anything she ever wanted, he wanted her to have. They have been partners in everything and by each other's side throughout the beautiful life they have built. He took her hand 55 years ago, and was still holding it at the end.
A visitation for David will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 Saint Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, MO 63074. A funeral service will follow Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 12:30 PM, also at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home.
