Elisabeth Ella Miller, a woman of grace and unwavering faith, passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 103. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that touched the lives of many. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Barbara (nee Ellwein) Riedel, her husband, John D. Miller, her daughter, Joan Parmley, her brothers; George, Edgar, and Frederich Riedel, along with her sons-in-law; Robert A. Baker and Mitchell Parmley.
Ella leaves behind her children; David (Diana) Miller, Daniel (Janice) Miller, Jeanne Baker, and Janice (Scott) Secrease. She was not just a loving mother but also a doting grandmother to Stephen (Alisabeth) Miller, Anthony Miller, Paul Miller, Francis (Susan) Miller, Catherine (Brandon) Stephens, Melissa (Daniel) Autry, Michael Miller, Cybele (Frank) Falco, Phoebe Casey, Alexis Kempe, Justin (Natasha Young) Parmley, Ian Parmley, Kaitlyn Parmley, Dylan Parmley, and Nicholas Secrease, and a great-grandmother to twenty one children. Her love knew no bounds, as she was a devoted aunt, great-aunt, step grandmother and a cherished neighbor to many. Ella’s generosity and kindness made her a pillar of her community.
Faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of St. James Lutheran Church in University City, Missouri, where her commitment to her faith shined. Ella’s compassionate nature led her to pursue a nursing degree at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Her nursing skills were not only a profession but a calling. She cared for her family, her husband, and her community, exemplifying a life of service and care. She was known for her participation in the Ladies Aid Society and for her role as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, where her sons were active members. Her devotion to her family, community, and her church knew no bounds. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves a void in the hearts of all who loved her, but her legacy of kindness and service will live on.
A visitation for Ella will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Alexander - White - Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 Saint Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, MO 63074. Followed by a funeral service at the same location. Ella will be laid to rest at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 11101 St Charles Rock Rd, Saint Ann, MO 63074.
