Elsie “Ann” Quillman, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri. Born, May 23, 1938 to the late William Ellis Jamison and the late Flora Lee Jamison (nee Hastings). She was baptized on April 13, 1941 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in De Soto, Missouri and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ann was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late William “Bill” Ray Quillman; loving mother to William Ray (Darla) Quillman, II and the late Jennifer Ann Quillman; cherished grandmother to William James Quillman; dearest sister to Bill (Mary) Jamison, Don (Joanne) Jamison, Jim (Melissa) Jamison, the late Ed (Patti) Jamison, the late Gary (Carole) Jamison, and the late Butch (Mikie) Jamison; treasured godmother, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and dear friend to many.
Ann worked for the City of Bridgeton Police Department for over 25 years in various positions including Executive Secretary to the Detective Bureau, a Matron, and in Records and General Administration. Prior to her long career with the City of Bridgeton she worked for Bardenheier Wine and Liquor Company in St. Louis, Missouri.
She had many interests in life including quilting, sewing, mending, cross-stitch, antiquing and visiting garage sales, reading, cooking, flower gardening and most importantly bragging about her grandson, Will. She also loved playing cards, camping and traveling. Her favorite road trips with family and friends were often those with no set destination - “we are headed wherever the road takes us” she would say with a smile. She and Bill traveled to many places outside the United States, including Mexico, Canada, England, Ireland and Hawaii. She created beautiful handmade gifts over the years for family and mended countless dog toys for her beloved pets and “grand puppies”. Ann and Bill hosted many parties and family gatherings for over 50 years at their home, and Aunt Ann’s house was a favorite place for many of her nieces and nephews to visit.
Selfless giving unto others represents one’s true wealth, and there is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others. Ann’s generosity, charity and kindness to others represented not only her faith in God but also the love she had for family and her compassionate nature. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri or to any other animal charity organization of the donor’s choice.
