

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lily Hill, his parents, Luther and Cecil Hill, as well as his siblings, Ora Harmon and Lonnie Hill.
He is survived by his loving children, Sandy (Tom) Baudoin, Steve (Bonnie) Hill, Dave (Cherie) Hill, and Debbie (Rob) Nelson. He was a proud grandfather to Jenny, Shane, Sissy, Brit, Abby, Ryan, Maddie, and Jack. He was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Annette Johnson. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
A proud veteran, James served his country for four years in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career, retiring as a Receiving Supervisor from McDonnell Douglas. Even after retirement, his work ethic and care for people led him to serve families at Shepard Funeral Home until the age of 90.
James was a man of strong faith, which guided his life and inspired those who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A visitation will be held in James’s honor on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd, St. Ann, MO 63074. Service for James will follow immediately after at 11:00 am at the same location. A committal will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
