Richard was born to the late Walter and Nelle Hotchkiss. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and generous heart touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Simmons and Rick (Kelly) Hotchkiss; his grandchildren, Myles and Kyle Hotchkiss, Shannon (Eric) Hinson, and Megan (Steve) Helton; four great-grandchildren; his brothers, Gary Hotchkiss and Tom (Josephine) Hotchkiss; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Richard devoted countless hours to the ABC Ballpark community. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball teams and later served as president of the club, helping oversee the ballpark and supporting generations of young athletes. His dedication to the program reflected his love of the game and his commitment to giving back to his community.
A proud member of the Lincoln County Moose Lodge #2599, joining the Lodge in 2002. Richard earned the distinction of becoming a Pilgrim, the highest degree of membership in the Loyal Order of Moose. He especially enjoyed visiting Mooseheart and found great fulfillment in sponsoring and supporting children through the organization.
Richard dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Boeing, where he took pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years.
Richard found his greatest happiness outdoors, spending time on his property and appreciating the beauty and peace of nature. He also had a lifelong love of country and bluegrass music, which brought him joy and was often shared with those around him.
Above all, Richard valued the people in his life. He was known for his friendly nature, willingness to lend a hand, and ability to make others feel welcome. He was a friend to many, and his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they shared with him.

A visitation for Richard will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd, St. Ann, MO 63074. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd, St. Ann, MO 63074.
