Willard is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Lilia Manalo Johnson; children, Ken (Charl) Johnson and Pam (Steve McCabe) Johnson; sisters, Ellyn (Dennis) Fulford and Marilyn (the late David) Markusic; nieces and nephews, Lori Kaszer, Mark Fulford, Susan Poole, Janice Callazzo, and Dave Markusic; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Willard is preceded in death by his parents, Verner and Lena Johnson.
Willard was a graduate of University of Illinois at Navy Pier in Chicago, from which he obtained a degree in Architecture. After college, he proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, Willard worked as an Architect in both the Chicago and St. Louis areas. He eventually owned and operated his own business, Willard Johnson & Associates. After a long and successful career as an Architect, he retired in 2004. Willard was a very active member of his church, Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in St. Peters. He acted as an Usher at the church; and as a Project Supervisor for Laborers for Christ, helping to rebuild or renovate churches and schools in the area. Willard was certainly a man who valued his faith and his family. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
