Alice Ikesha Avery (Kesha) was born in Detroit, Michigan on the special day of March 18, 1977 and was the loving daughter of a blended family which included Vicky Foreman, Ike Butler and Marc Johnson, Sr. whom she both lovingly referred to as “Daddy.”
Named after her Great-Grandmother, Alice enjoyed music and art, staying up to date with fashion and hair trends and never missed a moment for a great photo op. She also loved to travel and was known to hit the road from time to time for random visits to family. And many of those family gatherings included watching marathons of some of her favorite historical documentaries.
Kesha loved to learn and was a high-spirited, inquisitive, fun-loving person who loved and was loyal to her family and friends. Her first love at a young age was doing hair, and she attended cosmetology school after graduating from Northeastern High School.
In 1997, she gave birth to her first child, a son, Timothy, followed by her second son, Jalauni in 1999. In 2001, she gave birth to her first daughter, Lamea, followed by her youngest daughter, Breezia, in 2002.
Later on, she relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where she completed courses and received certificates in IT and as a Medical Assistant. Her last employment was at Novant Medical Center where she really enjoyed her job and the people she worked with.
Kesha departed this life on Friday, September 19th in the city of Durham, North Carolina at Hock Hospice Care after losing the fight with Heart Failure. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Rosabel Butler, her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Lula Avery, her bonus father, Mr. Arthur Foreman, and her first granddaughter, Malayah Nala.
She leaves behind to mourn her, her mother, Vicky Foreman, her father, Ike Butler, her step-father, Marc Johnson, Sr., her four children: Timothy (Nyjual), Jalauni (Launi), Lamea (Mia), and Breezia (Bree), her siblings-five brothers: Marc II, Adrien, Reginald, DeMarco, Emmanuel, two sisters: Andrea and Consuella, two granddaughters: Michayla and Niara, and her first grandson, Jahki, all of whom she loved very much. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
We will miss her and carry the memory of her in our hearts forever.♥️
