Andy Nicholas Alexiou, born March 8, 1948 in Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully in Roseville, Michigan, on November 30, 2017. Son of Jennie Cullen and stepson of William Cullen, he is survived by his one true love Betty Alexiou, daughter Jennifer Alexiou and grandsons Bruce (The Bear) and Nicholas Alexiou, daughter MaryKathryn Booth, son-in-law Nick Booth, and granddaughters Peyton and Penelope Booth, brother George Veni and sister-in-law Karen Veni, father-in-law Emanuel Mutafis, brother-in-law Fr. John Mutafis, sister-in-law Francene Christopulos and husband George Christopulos, several cousins, and innumerable friends. Andy retired as a transmission inspector from Ford Motor Company after 32 years. His passion was to enjoy and share a rich life: music, health, good humor, and excellent companions. He began his musical training at the age of 4 years; he played multiple instruments and sang beautifully with several Greek and American bands, as well as with the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church choir since his teens. His compassionate heart led his healing hands to massage any sore neck and shoulders he saw, leading him to work as a massage therapist for many years. He sold health care products for several years because he was committed to people’s wellbeing. Andy exercised regularly with weights which kept him strong and healthy nearly all of his life. He played golf whenever possible, and even if he played every day it wouldn’t have been enough. Since the age when he could carry a wallet, it was stuffed with his current favorite jokes. He served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Viewing will be held at 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 3rd, with the Trisagion Service at 6 p.m., at Kaul Funeral home, 28433 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores. The funeral will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church at 21800 Marter Road, St. Clair Shores, at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 4th, with the in-state period beginning at 9:30 a.m. The family appreciates all words of sympathy and gestures of support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to defray the cost of medical expenses would be greatly appreciated.
