Betty Ellen Scheid, 97, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born December 7, 1928, to parents Fred and Ellen Martin. Betty will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection for the steady grace of her presence, the gentleness of her spirit, and the thoughtful ways she cared for others throughout her life.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Russell Scheid. She was the loving mother of Richard Scheid, Linda (Ralph) Marino, and Christian Scheid. Betty was the cherished grandmother of Laurie (Scott) Van Luvender, Lisa (Scott) Rosati, Jennifer (Ken) Strohl, Ralph (Marie) Marino, Kristen (Sam) Scheid-Fox, and the late Leah Scheid. She was the dear great-grandmother of Ryan (Fiancée Danielle) Rosati, Sara (Sam Marsh) Van Luvender, Alex (Gabriella) Van Luvender, Kyle Rosati, Ashley Rosati, Alyssa Strohl, Adriana Strohl, Chase Marino, and Cayla Marino.
A faithful and kind-hearted woman, Betty carried herself with quiet wisdom and a selfless attentiveness that made others feel seen and valued. She found sincere joy in simple, life-giving pursuits—tending to her gardening and flowers, and spending time hiking and camping. She also treasured traveling to visit their houses in Colorado and Arizona, holding close the comfort of familiar places and the memories made there. Betty was very proud of her English heritage, a meaningful part of her identity that she honored with dignity.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, beginning with a gathering at 10:00 am, until time of service at 11:00 am, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.
Betty will be laid to rest at Erin Grove Cemetery next to her husband Russell.
