Captolla "Cappy" Lee Binder, age 98, passed away on June 17, 2026. Born on October 23, 1927, to Ralph and Mattie Miller, Cappy lived a long, full life marked by steady devotion to those she loved. She possessed a quiet wisdom, felt deeply by everyone who knew the way she cared for, listened to, and showed up for others. A longtime resident of Harrison Township, Michigan, Cappy will be remembered with profound respect and enduring affection.
Cappy graduated from Edwin C. Denby High School and later met the love of her life, William Binder. Their 59-year marriage stands as a beautiful testament to faithful commitment and a life built on shared values and constancy. As a mother, she dedicated herself to what she considered her most important role —raising her two children with unwavering guidance and compassion.
Cappy was the loving mother of the late Bruce Binder and her daughter, Renay Gamble. She was the cherished mother-in-law of Joanne Binder. She was a devoted "Granny" to Dr. Danielle (Dr. Aaron) Ruskin, Lindsey (Paul) Thomas, and William Gamble; she was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Aaron Binder (Mary Ann Paolucci Binder). Her legacy continues through her adoring great-grandchildren: Sydney, Sasha, and Harrison Ruskin, and Brennan Thomas.
Cappy was predeceased by her two brothers, Ralph "Billy" Miller and John Miller. She shared a very special, lifelong bond with her sister-in-law, Shirley Miller, and was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews, including Shirley Binder, Brian Binder, Teri Hall, and Sharon Comerford. A special thank you to Gail Kassin for her wonderful care and friendship.
Cappy expressed her love through her hands—whether she was floral arranging, patiently sewing intricate Halloween costumes and doll clothes, knitting, or creating beautiful crafts. She found joy in travel with her husband, Bill, and her dear friends, and she always delighted in a spirited game of pinochle. Above all, she treasured the meaningful moments shared with family and friends—moments made richer by her gentle, thoughtful spirit.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
