We made it Chris.  You wanted us here so bad, we finally made it. We feel you watching over us and know you are full of joy seeing us here

Dear Chris, we know your in heaven with many who love you. You are missed everyday, With the reopening of Notre Dame all the memories of our time there  watching her burn and the peace and love of the people just sorrowful and sweet memories of us being together as a family watching as city mourned. Our trip to the Eiffel Tower and you hugging the wall because you were afraid of heights , our visit to the museum where you pushed me in the wheelchair , mostly running into people's back side as we laughed. You sneaking out late at night to go get a snack . Our trip coming back where you stuffed your pockets full of snacks from the airline. Just remembering that beautiful smile that would lite up a room. Sweet memories of you dear Chris. Our hearts were blessed with having you in our lives.

We miss you Chris, you brought so much joy to our family. You were so laid back and lingered which drove some of us crazy but then you would just give that sweet smile and all was forgiven.  Your smile would light every room you walked into. We have your photo's on the refrigerator and each time I look and see the memories my tears flow from happiness. Love you always

You were so young when you came into our lives and the years flew by with each of us loving you even more. Our family was so blessed that you loved us as much as we did you. You will always be in our hearts, love you and miss you

We miss our dear Chris, he was always excited about having family with him and Chris. Always planning trips for all of us to be together. We had such a wonderful trip to Paris, France. Once we got up in the Eiffiel Tower he hugged the walls and was scared to look down. But the biggest surprise was his love of food. He finally told us he had sneaked out of the hotel one night for a snack about a block from the Hotel in Paris.  Loved him and miss him everyday

I’ve been so fortunate to get to know Chris over the past few years. Chris was always such a fun, friendly face at every family gathering and always made me feel welcome. One of my last memories of Chris is us all playing games, sharing laughs, and having such a fun fine at Thanksgiving. Chris will be missed by me and so many others, but he will be so dearly remembered for his invaluable impact on our world. His bright, loving spirit will continue to live on with us all❤️

Chris always held a special place in my heart.  As I was watching the sunrise it came to mind that things and people you always assume will be there, can suddenly not be. Chris helped me have the courage to be myself in front of my family when I was 18 at a family graduation party. Since then I’ve always felt very close to Chris and his wonderful husband Chris. He will be missed greatly and only wish I could be there to celebrate his life. I’ll miss you so much Chris, one day we’ll see each other again. Love ya so much.

I knew Chris since elementary school and he was just as caring and kind and fun then as he was as an adult. He always approached others with empathy and compassion. He cared so much for other people, particularly his sisters and brother and large family, but most of all for his wonderful, loving husband, Chris Nelson. I am so sad for everyone who never had the chance to meet Chris in his far-too-brief life. Chris, you will be very dearly missed. 

Chris has always been a source of joy and laughter. Ever since high school he was a bright spot in any party or event. Hearing his laugh always made me laugh too, it was contagious.  It has been amazing to see him grow and change from carefree high school student to a husband, uncle, and professional.  He had such amazing bonds with his siblings.  He will be missed by so many people whose lives he has touched.
My deepest condolences to Chris Nelson, Carolyn , Fred , Liz, Catherine, Steven, his father, Theresa, and all of his family and friends. 
I wish him eternal peace. You will be missed by so many.

I didn’t have the privilege to know Christopher Paul but I’ve heard so many nice things about him from his mother-in-law and his aunts by marriage.  There is no doubt Christopher Paul is loved by many and will truly be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with Christopher Nelson and Chris Paul’s family and friends.  I pray your memories of Christopher Paul will live on and fill your hearts with love and give you comfort during this difficult time.

Chris and I worked together at the Gem Theater/Colony Club and APM/Unified. Who knows, Chris putting in a good word to Matt may have helped me get my internship and later a job working there. Chris was such a sweetheart and hard worker. He made the tough work he did look effortless while being so thoughtful and down to earth. When serving and bartending at weddings, he would always make people smile and was so charming - making these special days even more bright. I loved when I could work at the same venue as Chris because I knew at some point he may sneak me a shot or we would end up at a bar across the street and even an after-hours once.  Chris will be forever missed. His spirit will live on through the people (and pets) he loved and helped over the years, fond memories and hype dance moves. My sincere condolences, love and thoughts go out to his husband, family and friends at this time. 

Friend... I am heartbroken.  Since the day we met in 2002 you’ve been someone I hold dear. Thank you for everything you taught me. Thank you for always making me laugh. Thank you for always talking my random calls and never making me feel like a bother. Thank you for being you. I’m so glad I had the chance to have a friend like you. I never thought you’d be gone so soon. To the family, you have my deepest condolences. Chris I will miss you forever.  

I will always treasure my years with Chris during college and thereafter. He was such a good friend with a kind heart, generous spirit and the ability to find and create joy and laughter in just about any situation. I'm grateful for our fun adventures, his awesome dance moves, and what a thoughtful roommate Chris was. He let me decorate our apartment however I wanted and didn't even care that my crazy bird was always flying around the place! Chris also threw me a wonderful surprise college graduation party that really impressed my parents. He lit up every room with his charming smile and positive attitude, and I know Chris's Spirit lives on eternally. He will always be in my heart. As I told you one of the best times for us as a family was last year when went to Paris and had dinner at the Eiffel Tower. Our dear Christopher Paul was so scared going up to the restaurant, he was hugging the wall and wouldn't go near the balcony. We all had a wonderful time and was lucky enough to have a window seat to overlook Paris. Paris was a great adventure and sorrowful as well. We were only two blocks away at our hotel when Notre Dame caught fire. Lucky for us we went the day before and Chris bought a rosary. He wanted it for someone special back home. That night we stood along side the people of Paris watching, crying and singing. Christopher said he would never forget that he had his family with him. We will have sweet memories forever of our Chris P 

I'm Carolyn's co-worker. I didn't know Chris but I can tell he was amazing guy by the way Carolyn spoke of him. Praying for God to comfort your family in a way that only He can. My sincere condolences.

I have known Chris through his sister, Carolyn, for over 20 years. He was my “dance savior” - always there to swagger his way in when unwelcome dance partners came my way on the club floor.  He protected me like a brother would. I am so sorry for Chris’ and the family’s loss - Chris was fun, a positive energy in all situations, and could strike up a meaningful conversation even after not seeing each other for years.  I will miss his smile and good vibes; I can’t believe he is gone. May he Rest In Peace and continue his role as a guardian and protector, just now from above.  My deepest condolences to his loved ones. 

So very sorry. I met Chris shortly after he and Christopher moved in on Joy. I regret not getting to know him better. He was often so friendly when walking his dog or passing my house biking. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and husband Christopher.  Eternal rest grant unto Chris, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. I worked with Chris for a few years at APM until he left for better things. Chris was a true angel and a true buddy of mine. He allowed me to adopt his last name so I could call myself Diana Prince (Wonder Woman). We would laugh and joke about the most random stuff while in the volunteer room. He has made a huge contribution in the field of HIV. He and that amazing smile that warmed a room will be truly missed.  He may not know it but he touched a lot of people in so many different ways. Now he can bring joy to the heavens. Rest well dear friend. 

Dear Chris,
I am shocked that you have left us so soon. I will look at it as you taking advantage of a phenomenal time-share deal. I truly enjoyed working with you and your kind even supportive spirit. I also enjoyed our long talks and laughs as we often closed down the office. You shall be remembered in the fondest way. 

I worked with Chris and learned so much from him about kindness and humor in our line of work. Indeed, many of my peers know Chris as a mentor and a friend. His presence was always joyous and filled with laughter. I will miss his spirit and quips. My thoughts are with with his family and his dear husband.

Chris worked the Michigan HIV/AIDS Hotline when I was the Education and Prevention Director at APM. He was an amazing employee and would go above and beyond when ever I needed his help.  We always tried to meet for lunch whenever we would take a trip back to Michigan from Florida. It’s difficult for me and my husband to grasp  that such a beautiful and precious human being was taken away from all of us at such an early age. As a parent I can’t imagine losing a child; his parents must be heartbroken.
We  can’t begin to imagine the pain they must be in. 
God must have needed another angel in Heaven.  
Chris, your love and friendship will forever be engraved in our hearts.

I worked with Chris at APM years ago. I remember him as a kind, funny, cheerful person who I was always happy to see and to chat with. He was a bright spot of my time there and I’m so saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his loved ones, especially his husband. 

We were so blessed to have dear Chris in our family. I cherish the memories of being very pregnant when his family came to visit.  He was about 8 years old with mom Ginny, sisters Carolyn and baby Liz and our favorite Uncle Fred. Chris was a sweetheart even then, a trait that runs deep in that family.  Our profound sympathy to his entire family that adored him.  May he rest in Ginny's arms now in love and peace. With love, hugs and blessings from Avél, Yriana, Eddy and Holly.  

Chris and I went to high school and kept in touch all this time. His positivity and his devotion to his husband and his pups were marks of the kind of man he was. My sincere condolences to his family and close friends but most specifically, to his husband. There simply are no words. 

I had the pleasure of working with Chris at APM. He was dedicated and hardworking, but also delightful and an effervescent personality to have around the office. He trained many social workers who are still serving the Detroit community, as a part of his legacy. 
My thoughts are with his family. 

Chris Nelson, Carolyn, Liz, and all, I am so sorry for your loss, these words are so terribly inadequate.  I never knew anyone who loved life as much as Chris, and he was such a true friend.  The world has lost one of the most joyful people I have ever known.  Please know you are in my thoughts.
