Viewing will be from 1:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48081.
Clarence was born on July 7th, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Martin and Clara Woycik. He grew up in Kinde, MI and went to Ubly High School where he graduated in1951while working on the family farm. From there he moved his family to Detroit where he worked in the auto factories and on the roads for years. His lifetime career, however, was being a Firefighter for the Ferndale Fire Dept for 28 years from 1964 until his retirement in 1989.
He married Janet Pawlowski in 1952. They were married for 57 years and had 4 children. In 1976 he moved to Marlette, MI and continued to drive to Ferndale for work. Many of the family used to say they would go to visit Clarence and Janet on the “farm” which is funny because, although they lived in the country, they did not have a “farm”. It was an endearing comment though and stuck with the family until today.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Marlette and St. Elizabeth Church for many years. The family is comforted to know that Clarence has joined our Mother Janet in heaven.
After he retired from the Ferndale Fire Dept, he and Janet spent their winters in Florida and came back to Marlette to spend the summers. He and Janet spent a lot of time in the craft circuit going from town to town selling his crafts. He had many folks that would call him for special items to build for them and is remembered lovingly by those folks.
Dad was someone that made a lasting impression upon almost everyone he met. He was a good provider, strong and tough man that did not let anything stand in his way. He grew up on a farm which is probably why he was a man of many talents. There was pretty much nothing that he couldn’t do. Besides being a Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he was a good cook, electrician, carpenter, fisherman, hunter, and most well known as a craftsman and woodworker. He was commonly recognized by his big cheek which held a large wad of tobacco most of the time and his suspenders.
Clarence is survived by his children, Cathy (Katie) Onslow of Ypsilanti, Terry Woycik of St Clair Shores, Marty Woycik of Warren, Rich Woycik of Saginaw, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews. He is also survived by two siblings, Ann Cornyn of Dearborn and Mary Okoniewski of Clinton Township. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Janet in 2010. The family is comforted to know that Clarence has joined our mother Janet in heaven.
He will be missed very much. He will never be forgotten and will always live on in our hearts.
