Darlene graduated from Brablec High School, now known as Roseville High School. Throughout her life, she took on various jobs. Yet the role she held most dear was raising her daughter—a devotion that remained at the center of her life and the measure of what she valued most.
For many years, Darlene served as a preschool teacher’s aide at Rodger's Elementary school. She loved working with children.
Darlene was married to the love of her life, Dennis, for 51 years. Their story began at a softball game she was playing in—while Dennis was on duty at Roseville Police Department. A moment that would grow into a lifetime of partnership, loyalty, and shared love. She was the loving mother of her daughter, Brandy (Bryan) Roels, and the best nana ever to Jadin and Ava Roels, whom she cherished deeply.
She was the dear sister of Billy (Greg) Ryntz and sister-in-law of Linda (Robert) Morris. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Haselhuhn, and her brother Carl Smith. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and all those who knew and loved her.
A gifted and amazing seamstress, Darlene seemed able to create anything with needle and thread—making porcelain dolls and their clothing, and proving time and again that there was nothing she could not sew. She also treasured simple, meaningful moments, including watching scary movies and sleepovers with Jadin, and Ava, building memories rooted in warmth, laughter, and togetherness. Above all, family meant everything to Darlene.
