Dennis James McCarthy, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 1949 to his late parents Eugene and Virginia McCarthy. Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Dorothy; loving children: Erin (Adam Styer), Ryan, Holly (Daniel Johnson), Megan, Michael; and siblings: William, Gerald (Kathleen), and Thomas (Rhonda).
Dennis was very proud of his service in the United States Navy. He was faithful and devoted to his Catholic faith. Dennis loved to travel and he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, tending to his koi pond, working with stained glass, reading, writing, taking photos, singing, and swimming. He was a native Detroiter who loved watching his home sports teams and especially enjoyed playing sports with his children. Dennis was also very patriotic and loved his country and most importantly, his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Visitation, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. (Instate 9:30 a.m.) at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake, St. Clair Shores.
