Edward James Frenette, a long-time resident of St. Clair Shores, died on January 13, 2018. Ed was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont on January 23, 1929 to Dorothy and Ernest Frenette. He was the third of five children.
After completing his secondary education, Ed joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served during the Korean conflict. Ed left the Marine Corps after meeting his wife-to-be Gertrude Marie Ozark on a blind date. They resided in the Detroit area where he took classes in trigonometry and became an expert in factory machine setup and quality control. There they raised three daughters.
In the late sixties, the family moved to Australia, where Ed worked for General Motors Holden. The time they spent in Australia was life altering and generated a life-long respect for other cultures.
On his return to Detroit, Ed worked for several automotive suppliers, finally ending his career working in quality control for Chrysler Corporation.
Ed had a keen sense of humor and a love for life. He enjoyed spending time during his retirement years with his grandsons, becoming a close friend and confidant.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude (Trudy) Frenette on June 1, 2006. Ed is survived by his daughter Claudia Frenette (the late Larry Thompson), Diona Holmes, Simone Ostrander (Leon) and grandsons Marc Holmes, Andrew Holmes, Christian Holmes, and Grant Ostrander.
A private ceremony for the immediate family has taken place.
