Emily Mae Robertson

Emily graduated from Roseville High School, Class of 2012. From an early age and throughout her life, she carried herself with a steady resilience and a thoughtful, patient way of moving through the world—qualities that remained evident in all she did.

By trade, Emily was a caregiver, and she approached that calling with tireless dedication. Her work reflected a kind-hearted spirit and a willingness to help anyone in need, offering comfort with quiet strength and consistent compassion. In the lives she touched, Emily’s example was deeply inspirational, leaving an enduring impression through simple, steadfast acts of care.

Emily married the love of her life, Iain, and together they raised three beloved fur babies: two dogs, Sally and Buddy, and their cherished cat, J.J. She was the cherished sister of Steven (Amie) Schmekel and the dear aunt to Steven and Zoe Schmekel. She was the beloved daughter-in-law to Don Robertson and Carol (Doyle Cruce II) Robertson, and sister-in-law to Sean Robertson. Step-father Mike Renne. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, long time Detroit Police Officer Steven Schmekel, mother Laura Renne.

Emily found joy in the things that made life bright and memorable. She was known for her great crafting skills, her love of drama and horror movies, and her inability to pass up a good estate sale. With an adventurous spirit and a heart drawn to meaningful moments, her happiest place on earth to visit was Frankenmuth.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with a service being held at 6:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.

Emily will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Memorials in memory of Emily are suggested to the family. A go fund me has been set up as well.
