Eva Marie McGee

McGee, Eva M. 85, passed away July 27, 2014 after a brave and courageous fight with cancer. Beloved wife of Francis; cherished mother of Kathy (Gary) Sedan, Laura (Craig) Plesco and Joann McGee; loving Grandmother of Kristen Bewley. She is also survived by her sister Joann Immordino, sisters- in-law: Patricia Pleva, Kathleen Zablocki and Mary Ellen Swaha as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Eva was very proud of being a First-Generation American as her parents: Ignacio (d. 1957) and Lucia (d.1996) were immigrants from Sicily. She was also predeceased by siblings: Joseph (d.in infancy) and Katherine (d. 2008).

Eva was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish for almost sixty years and her faith was very important to her. She was a fabulous cook and baker, enjoyed sewing and crocheting and had an open and generous heart to all who knew her. She was an avid reader with numerous interests and hobbies but her faith and family always came first.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the “angels” of the Three-West nursing staff at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe for the caring, compassionate and outstanding care they provided Eva during her time there.

Visitation will be Friday August 1, from 3 p.m.to 8 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) at the Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores, MI. She will be in-state Saturday August 2 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores from 11:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Eva’s memory to the following organizations: The Capuchin Soup Kitchen, The American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army Bed and Bread Club and the St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital.
