So Sorry to see that Harvey passed away.  He was a great friend and neighbor to my grandpa, Adolf Claeys, when he and Susan lived next door on Alexander in SCS.  May he rest in peace.  I am sure he and Grandpa are sitting around having a beer together as he did with him daily.  My sympathies to the family.

My condolences to Sue, my Cowan cousins, and their families. I have many fond memories of Uncle Harvey, the warmest being from Christmas Eves at Grandma Cowan's house on Minden Street in Detroit. He was part of that collage of wonderful people who comprised our extended family. Uncle Harvey always made me laugh, he made everyone laugh. If there's a corner bar in heaven, and you know there is, Uncle Harvey's there now, reunited with Clara and Ralph and all those wonderful people who were part of our extended family, catching up and yes making them laugh.

I'm very sorry to hear about Harvey's passing.  I met Harvey at Post 29 Mt Clemens. He made a shadow box for my husband a few years ago, great job.  Semper Fi Harvey.

I knew Harvey from #5.  I followed him to St. Johns and finally to Macomb County Protective Services.  We spent time together with our friend Dr. Wilbur Johnson.  Harvey was a good man and I will miss his wit,charm and our conversations on the wonders of life.  Till we meet again, farewell my friend.

We will miss Harvey and all his humor.  He was like a cat with nine lives and now he rests among the angels.  We wish Sue and Harvey's children and grandchildren peace as they remember their husband, dad, and grandpa with loving memories.

I knew Harvey Cowan from his days at #5, in the mid 70's. After he retired from the DPD I believe he went to work at St John's Hosp, (security). It seems that I recall that Harvey was a collector of WW2 (and other wars) memorobilia. I think he especailly liked to collect different medals and badges; not just U.S. but the bad guy's stuff too. This is kinda wierd: Years ago my wife bought me a  Nazi pin---because I was at the time considering getting into collecting similar war stuff--- that signified and commemorated the German pilot's involvement in flying supplies in to the beleagured German troops on the eastern front. For a long time I had promised Harv  and myself that I would bring it in to show him and to possibly get more info on it. Well, as things go, I suddenly could not locate that darn badge anywhere. However, not long ago I found the badge in our curio cabinet. I right away thought of Harvey. Now I realize I've missed the chance to have a chat with him about these collectible items. Harv was one of the most interesting guys I ever knew while on the DPD. I am sorry that he has passed away and will add him to my prayers along with his remaining family. I will also think of him whenever I look at that Nazi badge...whicxh by the way is the only piece I have; never got into collecting them like I thought I would. May God comfort his family and grant eternal peace to Harv.
