January 24, 1971 – June 20, 2026
Hope Rebekah Lancaster, age 55, passed away early in the morning on June 20, 2026. Born on January 24, 1971, in Farmington, Michigan, she was welcomed into the hearts of her loving adoptive parents, James and Gloria Winchel of Brighton, Michigan. A resident of Roseville, Michigan, Hope will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her.
Hope spent many years living in Florida before returning to Michigan to be with the first love of her life, Richard Lancaster (Hendricks family). Their life together was a beautiful rollercoaster, navigated with devotion, care, and Hope’s compassionate spirit. A true free spirit who carried a quiet gentleness into the lives of those around her, Hope loved everyone unconditionally—and she passed away knowing she was deeply loved in return.
Throughout the years, Hope held many jobs, but she found particular joy in working as a cook in her later years—a true expression of her kind-hearted nature and sincere desire to care for others. In feeding so many people, Hope offered more than just meals; she offered comfort, warmth, and a sense of home.
Hope was the beloved wife of Richard Lancaster. Together, they raised three children alongside a bonus son who lived far away but spent many cherished summers with the family: Randall Lancaster, Charlotte Lancaster, Future Lancaster, and David Lee (Riley) Willis. She was the proud and cherished grandmother to Arya Lancaster, Emerson Lancaster, Aaliyah Willis, Mekhi Willis, and Ally Willis. Hope was also the dear sister of Heather (Jim) Idoni and Christopher Winchel, and a loving aunt to the Idoni boys: Benjamin, Carman, Angelo, Gabriel, and Valentine. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Hope’s interests reflected the gentle steadiness that defined her life. She loved spending crisp mornings with a fresh pot of coffee surrounded by her family. Whether she was cooking, gardening, relaxing with crosswords and coloring books, cycling, or taking long walks—especially through Downtown Detroit—she found simple, meaningful joy in everyday moments.
Arrangements: Entrusted to Kaul Funeral Home, St. Clair Shores Chapel.
