Horst E. Schaefer, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera and son, Erik. Horst is survived by his loving children: Mike Schaefer and Kevin (Laura) Schaefer; dear grandchildren: Vaughn, Vanessa; and brother: Robert Schaefer. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Horst came from Germany to Oklahoma before moving to Detroit and settling down in St. Clair Shores. He enjoyed his career of driving trucks for Chrysler Automotive. Horst loved going up north with his family and hiking on his property with Vera. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren out to do different activities. In his later years, he enjoyed driving along Lakeshore Drive and doing Sudoku puzzles. Visitation, Monday, October 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
