Jim was a loving father, husband and grandfather, long time SCS resident and advocate, and genuine friend to everyone he knew.
Visitation will be held at the Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081 on Sunday, October 23 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Rosary at 4 p.m. VFW flag ceremony at 7 p.m.
He will lie in state at St. Hubert Church, 38775 Prentiss, Harrison Township, Michigan 48045 on Monday, October 24 starting at 10:30 am. His funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am. Monsignor Ricardo Bass will be presiding. A celebration of his life luncheon will follow in the church activity center.
Inurnment after cremation will be held family only at Resurrection Cemetery on Saturday, October 29 and will include the playing of Navy taps.
Jim was born September 9, 1924 to Vergie (Hopkins) and Jesse Bostick. He had two brothers, Paul Bostick and Hershel Bostick and one sister, Louise Green. He met his true love, the former Elaine “Babe” Adas, while speed skating at Belle Isle and on July 5, 1952 they married. Babe and Chick were married 52 years before she passed away in 2005.
He served in WWII as a Navy Corpsman. His main occupation was auto industry sales, ultimately owning a previously owned car business. He was a loyal Detroit sports fan. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer for many years. He was also active in his church and community.
James is survived by his son William Bostick, daughter Barbara (Kevin) Owen, daughter Janice Bostick, and son Robert (Kimberly Volckaert) Bostick. He had six grandchildren: Alex Owen, Austin Owen, Bridget Bostick, Alan Dekeyser, Emma Bostick and James Bostick. He had two great-grandchildren: the late Devin Bostick and Morgan Bostick.
Memorial donations in James’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation or St. Hubert Church.
