He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda; loving children, Jim (Jodie) Janssens and Angela (Josh) Lalonde; cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Mia, James, and Lydia; and dear sisters, Kathy (Paul) Schwartz, Judy (Gary) Gouin, Debbie (Tom) LoPiccolo, and Maryann (John-Paul) Hale. He was preceded in death by his siblings Andrew Janssens, Jerry Janssens, and Sharon Hansen (survived by her husband, Lee Hansen)
Throughout his life, Jim was defined by hard work, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to his family. An entrepreneur from a young age, he built and operated several businesses over the years, including owning and operating Superior Carpet Supplies for 37 years. His strong work ethic and determination earned the respect of everyone who knew him, but no matter how busy life became, his family always came first.
Jim and Linda shared 58 years of marriage, and anyone who knew them knew they were a team. Through every challenge, every celebration, and every chapter of life, they stood by each other’s side. Jim wasn’t one for grand romantic gestures, but there was never any question how much he loved her. He showed it in the little things—making sure her car always had gas, looking out for her, taking care of her, and making sure she always knew she wasn’t facing anything alone.
Jim was a force to be reckoned with. He had a strong presence, a stubborn streak, and a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He wasn’t one to follow the crowd, and those who knew him best knew that once Jim made up his mind, there wasn’t much changing it. More often than not, he proved that his way worked just fine.
A man of few words, Jim let his actions speak for him. He was someone his family could always count on, a loyal friend, and a steady presence in the lives of those he loved. If you found a friend in Jim, you found a friend for life. His loyalty ran deep, and the friendships he built lasted a lifetime.
Jim enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: hunting trips with the boys, bowling, classic cars, a cold Miller Lite, and time spent with family. He never claimed to be a chef, but his gravy was a family favorite. And anyone who knew him knew he rarely passed up a bowl of ice cream.
To his grandchildren, he was simply the best grandpa around. His family was his greatest accomplishment, and the love, lessons, traditions, and memories he leaves behind will be treasured forever.
James will be remembered with respect, admiration, and affection. His legacy will live on in the family he cherished, the friendships he valued, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Judson Center in his honor.
