I had the privilege of working with James when he just started his engineering career at Excel. I recognized immediately that he was an extraordinary talent. James could solve any problem and he was easy to get along with. I recall our two month trip to Japan on a high level project. James was shy and quiet and afraid to eat any of the Japanese food. He was desperately craving pizza or a burger. Years later when we worked together in Arkansas I met a different more confident worldly young man that had really grown into a fine engineer and great person. One of my fondest memories of James was a 2 mile uphill hike to Itsukushima Shrine in Japan. We also experienced an earthquake while we were there. The world was certainly a better place with James in it. I am so sorry for your loss my prayers are with your family.

I got to know James while he worked on projects for my company in Kansas City.  Without a doubt, he was the most capable engineer I ever met. He worked hard and made it look easy.  James was always so kind and easy going.  I’m deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

James was one of the kindest and most brilliant people I have ever had the pleasure of working with for several years, and I'm happy to call him a friend. He treated everybody with respect and like a person, and was always willing to help and explain things whenever we needed it. He was very passionate about his work, and I have learned a lot from him over the years. Always professional, but down-to-earth and a fun guy to have a drink with from time to time! 

Our deepest condolences to the Koehler family on behalf of Excel's Assembly dept., as we keep James and his father in our prayers. May they both rest in peace.
