Klumpp, Janet M., age 68 of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away on September 3, 2018, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She was born in Detroit on April 13, 1950, to the proud parents of Robert and Lorraine Klumpp. Janet is the beloved wife of John C. Bennett for 17 years. She is the step-mother of Dean (Robin) Bennett and Holly (Dave) Zecchin. She is the cherished step grandmother of Jacob Bennett. Janet is the dear sister of James (Ingrid) Klumpp, Robert (Cassie) Klumpp, Thomas Klumpp and Lisa (Mike) Hagan.
Janet was a Social Worker for the State of Michigan for 29 years. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wayne State University in 1998. She went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2004 and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology in 2006. She taught at Wayne State for 5 years after.
Janet was very active in the United States Power Squadrons, a boating safety organization. She was District 9 Commander in 2017 and Mt. Clemens Squadron Commander in 2000 and 2009. Janet received her Educational Proficiency Award in 2012, the Mt. Clemens George E. LaPlante Sr. Memorial Award, and the Past Commander’s Award in 2014. She became a Life Member in 2018.
