Janet Olsen, 86, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away on April 8, 2026. Born December 7, 1939, to parents Raymond and Ethel Bowling. Janet was cherished, hard-working, gentle, kind-hearted, and thoughtful, and she will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by those who knew her.
Janet graduated from high school and went on to take some college courses. Along the way, Janet found a passion in life that led to becoming an instructor and discovering a love of flying. Janet became a flight instructor and later worked in the education field as a par pro at a school.
Janet enjoyed retirement and treasured time spent with family—whether out on the golf course or sailing when possible. Janet’s steady presence and caring nature were felt most in the everyday moments shared with loved ones.
Janet was the loving mother of two sons, David Olsen and Steven (Margaret) Olsen. Janet was a grandmother to McKenna Olsen, Haskel (Stephanie) Canter, Jacob Canter, and Joshua Canter, and a great-grandmother of 8, as well as a devoted companion to many cats. Janet will be missed by all those who knew her well.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with a service at 6:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Janet will be laid to rest at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan, next to her mother, Ethel Bowling.
