Jeanne Marie Habarth

Jeanne M. Habarth (nee Higgins), age 95, of St. Clair Shores passed away peacefully on February 9, 2017. She was predeceased by parents John and Martina (McHugh) Higgins, brothers, George (Elizabeth dec.) Higgins, Jack (Sheila) Higgins; sisters, Martina (Joseph dec.) Murphy, Juanita (George dec.) Weins and her beloved husband of 64 years Albert Habarth. Loving mother of James (Teri) Habarth and Mary (Michael dec.) Taylor. Proud grandmother of Janice Habarth, Patricia (Peter) Meyers, Kathleen Habarth, James P. (Jesse) Habarth, Christina King and Nicki Herndon. Delighted great-grandmother of Alex, Hunter, Lauren, Kylie, Andrew, Daisy, Lyla, Phillip, Nicholas and Eli. Jeanne grew up in Detroit and graduated from Annunciation Catholic School in 1939. She attended Detroit Business College and later worked as an executive secretary for Buick. In 1945 she married Navy man and fellow Annunciation classmate Albert. Along with her love of family, Jeanne found great joy in music. She played piano, danced and sang. She performed with GM Chorus, the St. Jude in Choral Club (Judelaires) and the New Baltimore Interfaith Choir. Jeanne also had a deep devotion to her Catholic faith, actively participating in both prayer and service at St. Jude Detroit and St. Mary Queen of Creation in New Baltimore. Visitation for Jeanne will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 from 3-9 pm with a 7pm Prayer service, at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave, St. Clair Shores. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday February 14, at 10:30am at St. Mary Queen of Creation, 50931 Maria Street, New Baltimore. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Donations in Jeanne’s memory can be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
