Missing my buddy-girl...thinking Monet tonight.

Where do I begin? 
Monet and I? Well, firstly and foremost, I am so immensely and profoundly grateful to have shared so many precious life experiences with Monet. She truly was and will always be my soul sister. I love her dearly. We had so many adventures together….laughing (we did that a lot!), creatively making and doing, sharing our hopes and dreams, sharing our fears and sorrows too. We shared so much…  
We go back 4 decades, Monet and I. We were kindred souls from the beginning. No one “got me” like Monet did. She understood me well; as we shared the same passions and tastes that our other friends did not seem to understand so much. Our times together were crazy and spontaneous! I never had to explain why I thought and did to Monet she already knew! I have many Monet adventure stories to tell indeed. I'm so thankful for those times.
 It was always easy and a comfort for me to be with Monet. I miss her so much, I miss that comfort. Our friendship was the most unique in my life…absolutely and unequivocally irreplaceable.  I have been so blessed to have known her.  Indeed, she helped me to be who I am.
One fond memory of mine would be, after a time where Monet and I lost touch for a few years, due to moves and what have you, and then we reconnected again when Classmates.com was invented.  I logged on to Classmates  found her and saw that in her basic profile, in the section where it asked the reason the” member” joined classmates, she stated that she was looking for someone!  I was so excited to be able to message her, I paid for the membership so I could do so and within minutes of that message we were on the phone for hours! She told me she had joined the site because she was looking for me! OMG! I was looking for her! She shared with me that she had learned to play the harp and was interested in performing at the Renaissance Festivals. I shared that I was rather new Renne and her response was “Of course! I knew you would ‘get it'! No one ever understood me like you Becky! No one!!!” We laughed a lot about the parallels of our lifes interests even after a long separation from eachother. It was a conversation I will always remember fondly and the beginning of our Ren Faire, steam punk and harp jamming adventures together which were quite rich and varied!
 Since that time we reconnected nearly 15 years ago we have shared so much more. Trials and triumphs, alike.  We were there for each other…. She was there for me in the hardest times of my life. I just cant express enough how much her love and support meant to me… Monet was my sister in my heart and soul. I carry her. I remember our love and memories every day. To live forever is to NEVER be forgotten. Monet you will live forever.

My god, where do I start. I just heard the news and my heart is broken. Thoughts of you kept  filling my mind with increasing intensity recently to discover you have left us.
I have such fond memories growing up together. I remember going skating on lake Saint Clair in the winter time. Your hands would get so cold lacing up the skates, but skate we did, sometimes for miles. We would open our coats and let the wind blow us down the ice like a sailboat. In the summer time we would go down to the Recreation Center to hit the tennis ball for hours on end sometimes. I remember taking walks with you to the waterfront, listening to the waves and the wind blowing through the sailboat masts making them chime.  I remember our last dance, it was new years eve 1980. Walking into the lights of the ballroom you were stunningly beautiful and you lit up the room with your radiance. We danced until  the party ended at 2:00am.
Regretfully, that was the last time we saw each other. Life got in the way and my career took me far away. Five years turned into ten and then thirty, but I never forgot and never will.
You were so musically talented. I was happy to read that you became well known for the harp. I would have liked to hear that (I enjoyed the time when you played the flute).
We were more than friends back then and the tears that well up in my eyes as I think back just do not stop. Wish we could have gotten together to talk one last time.

Monet i didn't know you all that well, but your passing is much too early and you were certainly a unique and irreplaceable individual.  We worked together at the MCSD and you touched many more hearts than you probably knew.  God bless you and your family.

I hope I can still make an entry here. I didn't know Monet as well as I wished, but she was a wonderful person and a great musician to play with. She had a warm spirit and welcoming heart. I was sorry that she left Toledo, and I was looking forward to her return performances. I am truly going to miss her, going to miss knowing that someone like her exists. I looked for her beautiful facebook posts every day and FB just isn't the same without them. I will try to keep her spirit with me when I play and think of her often. She was an inspiration.

Monet - You played your beautiful music on my wedding day 09/22/2012 at the Michigan Renaissance Festival.  You helped make our day special.  We are so thankful that you were the artist and musician that could be there to help us celebrate our special day.  You're a beautiful person with the music only angels could play.

When asked at the memorial service if anyone would like to speak no one stepped forward I think there are no words that could be said to express what a loss this is.alot of our childhood was spent together Monet and I invented burping and talking at the same time (so we thought) and were always doing something we got in trouble for and stayed up many nights laughing.a free Spirt she has always been as far back as i can remember.so from my heart to where ever your harp strings take you I love you and will miss you my friend.    this changes everthing

The world already misses your smile, which is probably the easiest thing to remember about you. But you were so much more than a smile.  A passionate musician and artist that was beyond the scope of many…. And at the same time, a well developed sense of humor.   While we worked together in a jail (not the best place to nurture creativity) your duty station was always an oasis from some of the more interesting miscreants that society had to offer.  Almost anyone could come to that door and not know if an art exhibit, concert or conversation of music trivia would lie on the other side.  We had many discussions about music (all kinds) and I was rather nostalgic on my last day there that the Guthrie recording I had loaned you was still in my locker after all those years.  I think I left there just in case you needed a little fix of Arlo during a shift.  I remember encouraging you when you had doubts about starting to perform, having gone through the same thing myself.  And like everything else you did, once you started, there was no stopping you.   Know, that you will be missed my friend.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and fellow co-worker.  I spent many years talking and laughing with her at the Sheriff Dept.  She will be deeply missed.  To the family, my prayers and thoughts go out to you during these tough times.

My deepest condolences to the family & friends of Monet's.....she was truely a wonderful person with so many great talents.  She definitly will be missed by not only myself but by so many that knew her.  She now graces the heavens with her wonderful music....My God & all the Angels enjoy her company as much as we did.

We met at festival in 2004 and knew right away we were kindred spirits. We played together through Renaissance Festivals, Christmas & St Patrick's events, Toledo concerts, Steampunk in Detroit. Monet, you were steampunk even before it became fashionable. So many memories I have not only of sharing the intimacies of music with you, but of baring heart and soul and a deep lasting friendship. You played at the wedding party for me & Alastair where many of my friends had the pleasure of meeting you, and I was glad you took my skeleton and steampunk things when I moved across the ocean so I knew they were going to a good home. I'm grateful I got to see you this summer while in Detroit, we shared some big, long hugs.  I didn't want to let you go. I wanted you to come to UK and stay a while. I wanted to play more music with me. We thought we had plenty of time. 

You always told me I was your hero...but in reality, you were the inspiration for me. Your huge heart, your free spirit, your constant cheer.  You were so full of plans and determination. YOU were MY hero. You touched my heart. I will miss you terribly but will carry your heart in my heart forever.

My condolences on the untimely passing of Monet. We worked together at the Macomb County Sheriff's Department and have maintained contact via Facebook since she left. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. She was a unique person who marched to the beat of her own drummer. May she rest in peace and I look forward some day to hearing her play harp again!

Monet--the most creative, loving friend ever. You made spirits soar and imaginations ignite with your music, your stories, your art, your sense of style, and your smile. Whether playing the harp at my daughter's wedding or introducing my grandaughter to your music at the Renaissance Festival, you SHONE, and your light will never be extinguished in my heart. I will miss you, my friend, and will always love you.

Monet your warm charm and fine sense of humor and quick wit were a rare combination of traits. I remember the times You, Ken and me would spend from time to time sitting talking and laughing. I shall always remember the good times Rest In Peace Dear friend!

Monet worked as my Mom's home health worker for the passed 1 1/2 weeks.  She was a very kind lady.  She played her harp for my mom who has Alzheimer's and aphasia.  She will be in our thoughts and prayers.  She was very good with my Mom.  She will be missed.

Monet, My son, Steve, still remembers a Halloween "face painting" and your awesome spaghetti with myself and his best gal-pal! He was 8. Now hes 28 and it hurts his heart to know you're gone. You let him play your harp!! He loved it!! I love you and always will.I hope you will play for me when I arrive.  God Bless.

Dearest Monet, my heart weeps with anguish and sorrow at your loss.  We had so much in common yet were so different, and that's what I cherished about our friendship. The unbreakable bond we shared is something that doesn't happen too often in one's life. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS MY PRAYER'S ARE WITH YOU ALL.

My first meeting with Monet found her playing her full size harp in Tower 5 on midnight shift...  she was one of a kind!  There is no doubt she is on a cloud playing her harp.  She will be missed... truly a kind soul.

Monet was my oldest cousin.  I did not get a chance to see her in person other than when I was a young child visiting the Leggett family in Detroit, but through the "magic" of facebook, we were able to reunite, and my young daughter and I were able to benefit from her amazing creativity as a musician as well as artist in general (I loved all of the eco-friendly house designs she would post/I would share with my Social Studies students in Prague).  My sister Britt and my father were able to reunite with the Leggett clan in Detroit not too long ago, and it was an incredibly rich & memorable experience.  Our hearts go out to my cousins, Aunt Pat and Uncle Donald--sending you love and strength in these darkest of days...I know her memory (which is everywhere especially due to her art) will keep you warm...take care...Love, Shannon and Marie Leggett, Prague, Cz

The harp music of heaven has just added a walking bass line, but the joy of your music here on Earth will be very much missed.
