

John Paul Bedard, also known as Jack to his friends and Pops to his family, -age 89 of Harrison Township, Michigan passed away peacefully in his home on August 30, 2025. Jack was born on December 15, 1935, East Detroit Michigan and was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Rakis Bedard, parents George T. Bedard and Mathilda C. Altermatt; sisters, Jean (Robert) Ladd, Carol (Robert) Walters, Estelle (John) Brandt and brother George (Myrtle) Bedard. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: daughter Diana (William) Lince, son John (Sandra) Bedard son James (Kimberly) Bedard; seven grandchildren Alexander (Emily) Lince, Lauren Bedard, Ali Lince (fiancé Sean), Brittany (Austin) Teed, Andrew (Rachel) Bedard, Bradley Bedard and Jonathan (fiancé Kilee) Bedard; plus great-grandchildren Raymond Lince, Wesley Teed, and Sophia Lince.
Jack had a lifelong career in real estate dating back to the 1960’s and continuing until he passed. He was a pioneer in real estate with the creation of Bon Real Estate in the 1960’s and was responsible for countless individuals becoming salespersons and brokers over the years. He also was involved in the creation of Central State Savings and Loan and the combination of Red Carpet Keim in the 1980’s. Real estate continued to be his passion as a broker with Land & Lake Realty and Charitable Realty Services Realty USA.
Known as Pops to his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who instilled his love of golf, fishing, and hunting to both his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed having the entire family up north at Echo Lake Lodge where grandchildren would perform skits in the grandpa zone. He delighted in making golf enjoyable with skills challenges and friendly banter. Jack and his wife Catherine snowbird in West Palm Beach, where they enjoyed socializing and golfing at Atlantis Golf Club. Jack continued to sell real estate for Atlantis Real Estate during those winter months.
Jack became good friends with many throughout his life, whether they were growing up from school, military friends from his time in the Army from 1954 to 1956, constituents from his time as Macomb County Commissioner for District 17 in 1976 and 1977, neighbors around him wherever he resided, co-workers from all the companies he worked at or just casual acquaintances. He will be missed by all that knew him. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
