Johnny Wayne Hunt, age 74, raised in Kentuck, WV and a long-time resident of Saint Clair Shores, MI passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy; loving children: Rebecca (David), Michael (Shannon); dear grandchildren: Sadie, Reagan, Claire, Ashton, Easton; and many loving nieces and nephews. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Rebecca Counts and loving sisters, Lucy Chapman and Juanita Przybycki.
Johnny proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated employee to Daimler Chrysler for over 30 years as a hi-lo driver. Johnny retired in 2007 at just 58 years old and he was proud of that accomplishment. He enjoyed visiting his family in West Virginia and would make yearly trips there. In his retirement, Johnny loved spending time supporting his grandchildren in all their activities and was their biggest fan. His persona as a grandparent was an amplified version of how he was as a father: indulgent, loving, and supportive. Johnny loved to bowl, go to the casino, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed spending time and playing rounds of video golf with his dear nephew, James. Johnny was a very proud man who always put his family first. Although he could be strong-willed and opinionated, those who knew him best knew he had the biggest heart and most generous soul. His family and friends will celebrate his incredible life even as they mourn his death, and his memory will be eternal.
