Joseph (Joe) Melton Warner, also known fondly as “Papa Joe” by some, age 74, passed away at his home in St. Clair Shores, Michigan on May 22, 2021, after battling leukemia. He was born on November 26, 1946 in Port Huron, Michigan, to his late parents Charles and Frances (Pollina) Warner. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Suzanna; son: Charles (Margaret); step-granddaughter: Jessica. Brother-in-law: Robert (Bob) Francisco; nephews: Kerry (Amy) Francisco, Lee (Adrian) Francisco. Joe was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth (Betty) Francisco.
Joe graduated Port Huron High School. He held an Associates degree and was also a journeyman electrician. Joseph proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired after 41 years from Chrysler.
Joe’s second passion, after his wife, was stamp collecting. He also enjoyed snowmobiling with his son and friends, collecting antiques, car shows, motorsports, and spending time at the cottage. He also loved spending time in his vegetable garden, watching TV, and not getting rid of anything. He met regularly with his fellow retired Chrysler friends for breakfast.
Joe could start up a conversation with anyone. Anyone who knew him knew he always enjoyed talking and always had a smile on his face.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation would be appreciated. The family will have a small private service with a celebration of Joseph’s life to take place at a later time. Details to follow.
