June DiLaura

June DiLaura, age 92, of Trenary and formerly of Clinton Township, died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Home Hospice. She was born on January 5, 1930 in Escanaba, Michigan to the late Lester and Cecelia (Bellefeuille) Thompson. June married William DiLaura on November 16, 1946 and together they raised their three children in Detroit. In 1970, they moved to Clinton Township. June was a Pack Leader for her sons’ Cub Scouts. She enjoyed playing BINGO and her two favorite card games were “Hand and Foot” and “Bitch”. June and Bill enjoyed traveling with her brother Lloyd and Jo to many exciting places. June loved her family and loved being the matriarch. She required a kiss from her grandkids whether they were coming or going, gently reminding them with a “Are you forgetting something?” Both June and her famous and impossible to replicate spaghetti sauce will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children – William (Theresa) DiLaura of St. Clair Shores, MI and Carlotta “La” Wojtyniak of Trenary; daughter-in-law – Ruth DiLaura of Roseville, MI; grandchildren – Denise (David) Wood, Lori (Kenji) Fujita, Jennifer (Michael) Bohr, Mark (Julie) DiLaura, Matthew DiLaura, Geri (John) Timonen, Nicole (Daniel) Maki, and Kristy Wojtyniak; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; sister – Lois Hastings; brother – Archie Thompson; sister-in-law – Joann Thompson; and brother-in-law – Richard DiLaura. June was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Bill; son – Luigi DiLaura; son-in-law – James Wojtyniak; brother – Lloyd Thompson; sisters – Julie (Don) Goolsby and Dorothy Thompson; infant siblings – Hazel, Adel, and Lester Levi Thompson; half-sister – Annette; stepsister – Sharron; and brother-in-law – Charles Hastings. Visitation will be held at Kaul Funeral Home (28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, MI 48081) on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. A dinner will follow at Encore Banquet Center, 21801 East 9 Mile Rd., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.
