Kathleen Frances Wiland

Kathleen Wiland, age 79, grew up as the youngest of 10 children the Wiland home in Detroit, Michigan. She was proud to be a Wayne State University employee for 40+ years. The majority of her career was in the College of Nursing Center for Health Research as a Supervisor and in the College of Nursing Dean’s Office as an Administrative Assistant. After her retirement, she continued her WSU service as a Professional Technician in the University’s Law School. She received many awards and recognition over the years as an exemplary employee and made some life-long friends.

She has been described as being independent, intuitive, funny, sarcastic, generous, and a caretaker. She enjoyed many family trips and adventures and was always a very caring person looking out for the well-being and safety of others. She spoiled many of her nieces and nephews in their younger years taking them to the corner store, baseball games, the Thanksgiving Day Parade and many other places. She devoted a lot of her time caring for several family members and was always generously donating to various charities and others in need.

Her brother Bill and sister Barbara along with many nieces and nephews will cherish their memories of her and she will be missed by many more great and great, great nieces and nephews and friends/neighbors.

Kathy requested to not have a viewing, mass or any kind of service. So we are asking for prayers of gratitude that she is no longer suffering from health issues and that we were able to honor many of her plans and requests that she put in place for us to follow. May she be at peace and enjoy the reunion with many loved family and friends that she has missed over the years.
