Born on November 25, 1955, Kevin grew up with a strong sense of community and family values that guided him throughout his life. He built a dedicated career as an electrician, retiring after many proud years in IBEW Local 58. His strong work ethic, and dependability earned him the deep respect of his colleagues.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kevin’s life was defined by his family, faith, and lifelong friendships. He was the devoted husband and lifelong companion to his loving wife of 49 years, Bette Jo McKay. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family and friends.
Kevin spent countless hours at the rink coaching and watching his sons' hockey teams. As time went on, that same joy transitioned into supporting his grandchildren, never missing a chance to cheer them on in all their endeavors. When he wasn't supporting his family, Kevin loved fishing, spending a day on the golf course with good friends, tailgating at MSU, spending time in Florida & Houghton Lake, or sitting down for a game of chess, backgammon, or euchre. Driven by a spirit of service, he was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight and led numerous charitable initiatives to give back to his community.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Bette Jo; his sons, Bryan (Lisa) McKay, Kenneth (Chelsea) McKay, Patrick (Nicky) McKay, and Scott McKay; and his cherished grandchildren, Owyn, John, James, Henryk, Colleen, Connor, Patrick, and Kevin. He is also survived by his brother, Ken (Sarah) McKay; sister-in-law, Renee (Paul); brother-in-law, Garry (husband of his late sister Diane); as well as his loving nieces, nephews, and cousins and a very large circle of lifelong friends whom he considered family.
Reunited with his parents, Patrick and Muriel McKay; in-laws James & Irene Brenner, his sister, Diane; and many dear friends and family.
Kevin's legacy of leadership, generosity, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., (10:00 am gathering) at, St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church 21100 Madison Street, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at the Lakeshore Knights of Columbus located at 25003 Little Mack Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48080.
