Kristin Larson Jimison
February 22, 1952 – April 3, 2021
Kristin Larson Jimison passed away on April 3, 2021 at the age of 69 after battling ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ronald Jimison; her son, Gordon Randall Jimison (Melissa Winchester) and grandson, Linus; and her daughter, Linnea Jimison (Dominic).
Kristin was born on February 22, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in St. Clair Shores. She attended Lakeview High School, where she was involved in a number of student organizations and was lead editor of the school newspaper. She received a BA in Elementary Education from Michigan State University in 1974 and a graduate degree in in Business from Central Michigan University in 1990. She worked as an elementary school teacher for a few years and then as a florist before going on to have a long and successful career at Michigan Bell Telephone, Michigan Bell Communications, Ameritech, and SBC Global.
Kristin met Ronald in high school band class, where she played oboe and English horn and he played trumpet. A mutual friend encouraged Ronald to ask Kristin out, and for their first date he took her to see the Philadelphia Orchestra perform Symphony No. 1 by Gustav Mahler at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. They went to many more concerts throughout their courtship, and the couple married in 1975, spending their honeymoon in Quebec City.
Kristin was very musically inclined and played in the St. Clair Shores Symphony and various musical organizations. She and Ronald instilled their love of music in their children, spending countless hours taking them to music lessons, orchestra rehearsals, and music camps.
While working full-time, she also managed to make a home-cooked dinner nearly every night for the family to gather together and share a meal. Some of her favorite dishes to make were chicken paprikás, boeuf bourguignon, chicken soup with parsnips, white chicken chili, and rhubarb crisp made with rhubarb from her garden. She also enjoyed an occasional gin & tonic or bourbon.
Her family fondly remembers summer vacations spent in Northern Michigan, where they would frequently stay in the Thompsonville/Benzonia area. While there, Kristin loved golfing and going to the spa, as well as going to the beach at Crystal Lake and visiting the local restaurants and markets. Kristin also enjoyed visiting her daughter in Montreal, Quebec, and going to Quebecois traditional music concerts and festivals.
Kristin was deeply spiritual and spent many years exploring Tibetan Buddhism, meditation, energy healing, and natural and herbal medicine.
She was an excellent gardener, and one of her favorite flowers was Sonia roses, which reminded her of her beloved Grandma Kramer.
She cared deeply for her immediate family and loved spending time with her grandson.
A private service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Doctors Without Borders or the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at Michigan State University in Kristin’s memory. Her family offers their gratitude to the teams at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe Park for their attention and care.

Kristin will always be remembered by me as an excellent musician. She sat in front of me during Lakeview High School Band rehearsals and concerts. Kristin was always smiling, and I can still picture her doing this. That vision of Kristin has influenced me to smile more to help others feel more at ease upon seeing a friendly face. Kristin was very mature and intelligent. She did not let her musical talents give her a swelled head. She just kept striving to achieve more greatness in her musicianship. I was glad to meet Kristin and to learn from her that being humble and quiet while being excellent is the utmost form of inspiration to others. Thank you, Kristin Larson Jimison, for your life lessons through music. Sincerely, Lynne Henry

We only met Ron and Kris in person one time, but through our dear friend and your cousin, Martha Creighton, we felt like we knew you. We kept up with our families and remember the happiness when your first Grandson, Lineus, was born. Ron, we will pray for you and Gordon and Linnea in this time. God Bless You!
