Mae Charlene Stephens, 88, of Roseville, Michigan, passed away on May 2, 2026. Born in Lancing, Tennessee on November 27, 1937, to parents Charlie and Bertha Bowmer. They resided in Deer Lodge Tennessee for many years, Mae will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who were privileged to know her.
After high school, Mae went on to meet the love of her life, Lloyd, beginning a partnership marked by devotion and steadiness. She was the beloved wife of 42 years to the late Lloyd M. Stephens, and throughout her life she carried herself with a quiet wisdom and a kind-hearted presence that brought comfort and strength to those around her.
Mae was the loving mother of Linda (Daniel) Frank, Diane (Paul) Courtney, and Barbara (Daniel) Olsen. She was also a cherished grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren, a legacy that reflects a life devoted to family and the lasting bonds she nurtured. She is also survived by her dear sister, Ann Bowmer.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd M. Stephens; and her two sons, Michael Stephens and Eddie Stephens and his wife Ginny Stephens.
In the everyday moments that made up a life well lived, Mae found simple joys—especially in television, where nothing quite compared to her favorite: a good soap opera. Even in these quiet routines, her warmth and steady spirit shone through, offering an example of grace that will continue to inspire those who loved her.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16, 2026, beginning at 12:00 noon, until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Memorial donations in memory of Mae are suggested to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
