Melissa and I were friends at Eastland Elementary, I can't even remember how many sleepovers we had together. We always had so much fun. When ever I hear Pat Bernard "Hit me with your best shot" I think of you and the dance routines you would make up. Your Tulip theme bedroom, moon boots and catching tad poles. I moved away from you 29 years ago but enjoyed reconnecting with you in 2004- My heart aches for your family. May you rest in peace.

     It's been a while since I've seen you but the memories will last forever. You were my favorite playmate in my early years of life. You taught me to enjoy the finer things in life (as they were in the 80s) like "My Little Pony," "Care Bears," "ColecoVision," Prince, Michael Jackson, and sticker collections.
     I know that you were a special person as my grandmother is heartbroken in your passing. Just as my grandma said, you will always be remembered smiling, giggling, and bringing joy to the people in your life. You will be missed and loved for many years to come.

My heart goes out to family and friends who will miss your smile, miss your giggle, miss your laugh and how you brought a loving balance to my brother Charlie's life as soul mate... Which I know will continue for the rest of his life... And I thank you for this. I know you will continue on, having fun at the casinos in the sky, for there... I would often drive down Mack ave and pass by the street your mom and Jim live and think of all the fun we had when we were Teens. You will always have a special place in my heart and thoughts. Even though we were just friends, Melissa was my little sister and I will always think of her this way. I loved her dearly and will always treasure her friendship. Life will never be the same without your presence. The fact that we will not be able to speak, smile, or laugh again makes my heartache.  You've brought so many happy moments in my life, and left me with so many tresurable memories. I will never forget you.

Oh, Elmo. Our hearts are broken because you have been taken from us too soon. Who will update me on Honey Boo Boo, The Real Housewives and the cast of Jersey Shore? Who will do the Jersey Turnpike in the middle of the isle when we all need to laugh? You touched so many lives and were the reason behind so many smiles. I am so sad to learn that one of my dearest childhood friends has passed away. Although we haven't been in touch for many years I often thought of her and hoped someday we would reconnect. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Who knew when we met at MIU and shared a cubbie wall and I heard Melissa's laugh the first time and said "I'm working next to 'Tickle Me Elmo', that nickname would become her moniker at MIU.  I will miss our QVC shopping sprees for Honora pearls, her helping me understand the language of "Honey Boo Boo", crying over how much our condos have devalued, and her feeding my addiction to Little Debbie Peanut Butter Sugar Wafers every Halloween.  Most of all, I will miss our parking lot confessionals (we had quite the sing-song on Thursday night!), and the outpouring of love and support she has given me privately the last few months.  I am so happy we told each other we loved each other this past Thursday.  I will miss my coworker, certainly, but more than that, I will truly miss my friend.  I am a better person for having known her the past 10+ years.

Susan, Jim, and Charlie...all those who knew Melissa knew the profound and everlasting love she had for you.  My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

I've been blessed to have been Melissa's friend and co-worker for almost thirteen years.  

Who knew that when I said that I shared a cubicle wall with "Tickle Me Elmo", due to her infectious laugh, that nickname would become her moniker at MIU.  She has been a ray of light in my life and I will always treasure those moments away from work when we could talk on a personal basis.  I will miss our QVC shopping sprees, her translation to me of "Honey Boo Boo", my Little Debbie cookies...but most of all, the pure joy she brought to my life.  We said "I love you" to each other during our chat on Thursday, and it comforts me to know that we told each other that after all these years.  

My love to Susan, Jim, and Charlie...her love for all of you was known by all of us who knew and loved her.
