Michael Beck passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on November 18, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Clayton and the late Mildred Beck, he was the youngest of their six children.
Michael was a lifelong resident of St. Clair Shores and a proud graduate of Lake Shore High School (1974). He spent his early years working for the Chrysler Corporation and would later become a member of the United States Postal Service, from which he would retire after a 20-year career as a letter carrier in Harper Woods/Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
It was clear to anyone who shared a moment with Michael, whether it be for five minutes, five hours, or a lifetime, that he was one of the friendliest, happiest and most caring people they had ever met. He was always interested in hearing your story and always eager to share one of his own.
Over the years Michael enjoyed spoiling two great dogs, first his “backyard buddy” Worf and later his “chair buddy” Sparty. Michael loved new electronic gadgets, old cheesy movies and sipping coffee with friends at breakfast. But his favorite pastime was simply being with his beloved wife, Cheryl and spending time with their much adored grandchildren.
Michael will be loved and remembered forever by his wife Cheryl and her three children, that for 31 years he loved as his own; David (Kathy), Matthew (Eliza), Amanda (Kyle) and grandchildren Rachael, Thomas, Sean, Julianne and Jeffrey.
A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date, where the happiness and laughter of family and friends will celebrate Michael’s life.
Please share your memories of Michael in the memory book above.
